The Hydro Sovereign stumbles into their home covered in his own blood, strands of silver laced between his fingers. The Duke of Meropide rushes to his aid, only to discover that something they had spent years refusing to take from one another has been stolen from them instead. When cherished words are weaponized and familiar touch becomes something to fear, old wounds begin to reopen beneath the weight of new ones. Love alone cannot undo what has been done, and healing will demand more from them than either could have anticipated.
